L. Possehl & Co. mbH

Electronics

Leading Producer of Semi-Conductor Component Carriers (Leadframes) and Electromechanical Components

The business unit is active as a major supplier in the global “Automotive” and “Semicon” markets which both enjoy strong growth. Apart from two production sites in Germany, the business unit operates nine further subsidiaries in Europe, Asia as well as North and Central America. Possehl Electronics is thus represented in all major regions of the world with own companies.

Automotive
Possehl Electronics with its two business sites in Germany as well as one production facility each in the Czech Republic and Mexico has been a major supplier for the automotive electronics sector for decades. In 2016, we merged two of the Group’s companies, i.e. Technical Plastic Systems and pretema, under the roof of Possehl Electronics and have been present in the market under this new uniform name since.

The product range comprises technologically demanding punched and bent components that are manufactured in large numbers, both in reel-to-reel and reel-to-piece technique. In addition to that, highly complex mechanical and mechatronic assemblies (hybrid housings) are also produced. The products manufactured by Possehl Electronics are used and installed in navigation, braking and exhaust gas systems as well as in the electronic control of automatic transmissions.

Semicon
The Semicon portfolio, predominantly at the Asian locations, comprises the production of lead frames, i.e. the metal structures inside a semi-conductor chip and other electronic components. Our customers need these assemblies predominantly in the semi-conductor, LED and automotive industries. They are also required for applications in the field of industrial automation as well as for safety and control systems.

The two European companies in the Netherlands and in France manufacture and process mechatronic components largely for the production of LEDs, especially for headlights to be installed in motor vehicles.

The business unit employs a workforce of some 2,400 world-wide and generates an annual turnover of approx. € 300 million.
